ST MARIA GORETTI ROMBO GIRLS' SECONDARY SCHOOL

CLUBS AND SOCIETIES

Clubs and societies

There are 11 clubs and societies at St. Maria Goretti Rombo girls. These clubs help students nurture  their various talents and also  impart special skills and knowledge  that are beyond classroom  interaction. For instance, our scouts do community service every week which include; cleaning of our

school environment and also watering flowers, trees during drought

season.

Some of these clubs such as Robotics and Junior Achievers have come up with technological solutions that will transform our society in the near future. JA Africa has developed TOWEPA (a marketing app) that will provide an opportunity to the ASAL communities in marketing their natural products that are made from the beads.

In St. Maria Goretti Rombo girls’, we look forward to achieving greater heights and be solution providers in this dynamic 21st Century.

Clubs

Science Club

The Science club has a total of thirty students. Our main aim as a science club is to provide solutions to the problems  affecting society and inventions through projects. So far, we are working on Robotics as we are a STEM model school and we still have other projects in the pipeline.

Science and everyday life cannot and should not be separated.

MATH CLUB

Our aim as a math club is to change the attitude of students  towards Math. Our motto is’ math is easy and everyone  can pass math’ So far so good. Our grades in math are  improving. Every member of the math club ensures that members of  their class have done five sums per day.

ENVIRONMENT CLUB

As a club in school, we raise awareness among student so that they understand

environmental issues, to instill a sense of responsibility for the environment and personal  commitment to protect and preserve the environment, educate and cultivate an appreciation  and interest in the environment. Some of our activities include watering of trees and weeding of the  hedges in the school compound.

DRAMA & MUSIC CLUB

It’s with great pleasure that God has taken us this far as the music club of Rombo Girls. The teachers and the principal have been really supportive of the music club  and it is their support and our effort that made us get to the regional competitions  in 2019. When the festivals resume we are aiming at the nationals. As it is said “success  does not come on a silver platter” and as always music is the food to the soul.

JOURNALISM CLUB

The Journalism club deals in communication of important issues within and outside

the school. Both local and international news are occasionally hosted during the assembly.  The main aim of the club is to improve one’s communication skills. This boosts one’s  confidence as one is able to stand before people and not be afraid to express her ideas. I want to  register my appreciation to the journalism club members and the school at large for being supportive  to the club.

THE SCOUTS

Look ahead” , has always been our guiding principle as a movement. One of the mandates of Scouts is taking care of the environment. As a troop, we’ve taken up drip irrigation and weeding  the growing trees. When you visit the school, you will see our efforts. All this would not have been  possible without our patron Madam Vivian. This has made us one of the most active clubs in school. Braavo…

MISS St. MARIA GORETTI  ROMBO GIRLS 2020/2021

It’s my pleasure to be Miss Rombo 2020/2021. My duty

as Miss Rombo is to promote talent, creativity and self confidence among the girls. I wish to thank our principal  Sr. Margaret Lydia for coming up with the Talents Day. She gave us  an opportunity to showcase our talents away from the classroom.  Remember, the good book says, your gift will make room for you.

MISS JUMBO St. MARIA GORETTI ROMBO GIRLS 2020/2021

Being plus sized in this society is becoming difficult because of body shaming. Our principal has given me the opportunity to be the voice of the plus sized. My duty is to ensure that the girls who are blessed to be plus sized have a high self esteem and feel beautiful.

THE LEGION OF MARY

Prayer is one of our school’s core values. The Legion of Mary is a movement at St Maria Goretti. Some of our programs are prayers at the gorotto every evening by different classes. We also have  communal prayers at 5:00pm on Sunday. Most of the members of this society are also members of  the school choir who have worked tirelessly in ensuring that our school records the first album. It is our prayer  that our patron saint, St. Maria Goretti will intercede on our behalf.
