Guidance And counseling
Guidance and counseling have been given a
central placement in the school, with the purpose of assisting the students in fulfilling their basic physiological needs, understanding themselves and developing associations with peers. It also enhances balancing between permissiveness and controls in the school setting, realizing successful achievement, and providing opportunities to gain independence.
To maintain this, there are family days, guidance and counseling programs, class meetings, family groups patronized by teacher parents.
The department comes up
with integrated programs at the beginning of every term with facilitators involving peer counselors, teachers, invited motivational speakers and
professional counselors. Parents are also involved to encourage and guide learners in relation to their parental experience during academic clinics. The department has focused on academic
motivation and on overcoming personal and group challenges and problems among other contemporary issues.
The department has initiated a program, “LOVE BASKET”, upon realization that some students were needy and could not cope up with life in school. Every stakeholder in
school makes contributions in aid of vulnerable students for access of basic needs immediately they report to school “True guidance is like a small torch in a dark forest. It
does not show everything at once, but gives enough light for the next step to be safe.”
