St.Maria Goretti Rombo Girls’ Secondary School was established in  

2009 under the sponsorship of the Roman Catholic Church ( Ngong’  

Diocese) by the Franciscan Sisters of St. Joseph in collaboration  

with the local leaders and the Ministry of Education. The objective of starting  

the school was to accommodate the marginalized Maasai Girls who complete  

their primary education in the neighboring primary schools and end up  

nowhere.  

The school is located in the Southern part of Loitoktok District of Kajiado County-Rift Valley Region. It is one kilometer off Taveta – Loitoktok road, 50km south of Loitokitok sub-county headquarters  and 150km from Emali junction on the Mombasa-Nairobi highway. 

The school being the only public girls’ secondary school in the area, has attracted demand from all over the county. It has also rescued  some girls from early marriage and Female Genital Mutilation  (FGM). Our belief is that denying a girl education is denying the child her right. St. Maria Goretti Rombo Girls’ School was started with a small population of 35 students, four teachers (1 under TSC and 3 BoM teachers) and 6 members of the support staff. The school is currently a registered four-streamed school. Although, The dream has only been realized in form one and two. We have witnessed significant growth in population with the students’ standing at 640, 29 teachers and 21 members of the support  staff.  

The school boasts of basic facilities including 12 classrooms, two science laboratories, a computer laboratory, a library, a dining hall, two modern dormitories and a small playing field. There’s also a 51-seater school bus, a school garden among others. The school has also made tremendous  progress in improvement of physical facilities under the current administration by putting up a three storey building (still under construction), significant facelift through  repainting and redesigning of the school gate and the general outlook. St.Maria Goretti Rombo Girls’ School  has vibrant sporting and club activities which include football, netball, volleyball, badminton and other indoor  games together with Music, Maths, Journalism, Debating clubs among others. This fountain of knowledge being  a STEM school is an indication that our girls love sciences and perform excellently in them. In the year 2019,  our school emerged the best in Loitoktok Sub-County with a KCSE mean of 6.05.This peak performance can be  attributed to the dedicated team of teachers and leadership of the principal -Sr. Margaret Lydia.
